His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:3
Just like the Israelites, our salvation takes us on a journey out of captivity and toward the eternal promised land. God walks with us every step of the way — He is our pillar of cloud by day and our pillar of fire by night, His presence never leaving us, never failing us. As we eat and drink from His Word, the all-sufficient God provides everything we need to live a holy life. We don’t need to look anywhere else.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8
His divine power — the very same power that raised Jesus from the dead — flows from His Spirit to ours, enabling us to accomplish things we never thought possible. What an extraordinary thought that is. The Lord Jesus showed us how to live a holy life in an unholy world. He opened up the wonders of the kingdom and revealed the ways of the Father. The Holy Spirit continues that work today, revealing the mysteries of Scripture, and helping us to understand and walk faithfully in the Father’s ways. Everything we need to live a life worthy of His mercy and grace is found through the knowledge of Him.
The better we know our God, and the deeper our relationship with Him grows, the better equipped we will be — both for life and for godliness. In Him, we truly lack nothing.
