Holy Spirit, Truth

Infused With Life

When Jesus was explaining salvation to Nicodemus, He used the description of being ‘born again’ in order to convey the need to be ‘born of the Spirit’. Nicodemus thought he was living, but he hadn’t yet experienced spiritual life. Sadly, millions of people around the world are under the same delusion, with some honestly believing that they are living their best life. They have no understanding that they are dead inside, and that physically living is not the pinnacle of true life.

It is only when we give our life to Jesus that we really become alive. God’s gift to us was Jesus, and the gift that Jesus gave us was the Spirit of life.

Jesus restores our spirit to its original state, bringing us back into union with God and blessing us with the wonderful gift of living life in all its fullness. We have been released from the handcuffs of sin, but in order to maintain that freedom, Romans 6:13 urges us to ‘present ourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life’. We are no longer slaves to the master of sin, but sons and daughters of God, with the privilege and right to call Him Father.

The question we need to ask ourselves is, are we walking in the Spirit and living in the freedom that Christ bought for us? Have we set our minds fully on the Spirit so that we can live in His peace? God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts! Pause and think about that for a moment. We are one with Christ.
