For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4
It is so important that we get our spiritual feet ready to stand firm because the devil is going to use every trick in the book to shake the ground beneath us. He knows the arsenal we have at our disposal – the question is, do we? For the spiritual power that we have access to, terrifies him.
We know that enemy is sly and cunning, constantly prowling in the shadows, and stealth is his chosen mode of attack. When our guard is down, he slowly approaches and carefully climbs on. We hardly notice at first, which makes his weight easy to carry. We forget we’re at war, but he never does. The devil’s ultimate war is with God, but he cannot defeat God, so his attacks are focused towards the soldiers. Unfortunately, a soldier who doesn’t realise he’s under attack won’t reach for his weapons.
For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 2 Corinthians 10:3
We have three extremely powerful weapons at our disposal which are truly effective against the devil. Not only do they get him off our backs, but they also provide us with a protective coating to stop him from climbing back on. These weapons are the Word of God, prayer, and worship.
Through the Word of God, we can exercise truth over every situation in the authority of Christ – and truth is a sword that the enemy does not want to see in our hands.
Through prayer, we summon the divine power of Almighty God, the Lord of heaven’s armies. We are soldiers who can call for heavenly reinforcements, for we have a direct line to the throne room.
Through worship, our hearts and minds are lifted to the One who sits on the throne and who reigns sovereign over all things. The devil has no standing when we give God his rightful place.
Take a vigilant stand on the battlefield, for when Scripture, prayer and praise are on your lips, the devil won’t get close enough to get on your back.
