Nothing To Fear

What a tremendous thought that we, as children of God, have nothing to be afraid of. We are free from judgement, free from punishment and free from fear. Through the sacrifice of Christ, we have been set free from all of the bondage that comes from sin.

As soon as Adam accepted the fruit of the forbidden tree, he sold us into slavery; he sold us to Sin, and Sin is a relentless taskmaster. But, as soon as we accepted the salvation of God we were released from that enslavement. And although we serve a new master, we no longer serve as slaves; we serve as sons and daughters of the King and as heirs with Jesus Christ our Lord.

We are no longer a captive of the father of lies – Christ’s death released us from him and transferred us into the keeping of the Father of truth. This, in turn, releases us from brokenness and death, into wholeness and life.

The Lord Jesus made it clear that the Law of God still stands and we must abide by what God commands of us. The difference for us today is that we no longer have to fear the judgement and the punishment of breaking those commands, because that has been fulfilled by Jesus – through the cross – on our behalf.

Of ourselves, we would never be able to completely atone for all times we walk out of the will of God, and without complete atonement there is no salvation. The death of the Lord Jesus, alone, ushered in this amazing gift. Through Him, we have been made righteous, pure and holy, which enables us to become heirs with Christ.
