God's Presence, Trust

Perfect Peace

Do you find it easy to trust people or do past events and situations cause you to mistrust everyone? They say that trust is earned, so when someone makes good on a promise you feel more confident that they are true to their word. Unfortunately, when trust is violated it affects nearly all future relationships. Living in a constant state of mistrust can be exhausting, causing anxiety and sometimes leading to isolation.

This is not how God, our loving Father, wants us to live. He wants us to have peace, to have a mind, body and spirit that is wholly and perfectly at peace. This kind of calm assurance cannot come from any other source than God alone. When we trust in Him, He supplies all that we need.

Proverbs 30 tells us that every word of God proves true, which means that we can trust Him completely with all of our fears and doubts. Taking a few minutes every day to clear our minds of all the clutter and focus wholly on Him can have a real calming effect, deep within us. Reciting a verse that is personal to us can also bring a sense of strength and serenity. As we repeat it over and over, we will become aware of the surrounding presence of God as He envelopes us in His perfect peace.
