What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me? Psalm 116:12
The psalmist is considering all the things that the Lord has done in his life, and all the reasons he loves Him so dearly. This is his testimony:
“He heard my voice and inclined his ear to me. He delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. The Lord is gracious, righteous and merciful. He saved me.”
Reflecting on all of God’s goodness and grace, he asks himself, “What shall I render to the Lord?” What can we give to the King of kings for all he has given to us? We can give him our whole lives.
That is exactly what the Lord wants you to give him; your heart, your mind, your soul. Willingly and completely. He doesn’t deserve lip service, obligated giving and unenthusiastic praise. Having been delivered from death, we give Him our life, for we lose nothing but gain everything when we give Him our all.
O Lord, I am your servant. You have loosed my bonds. I will lift up the cup of salvation; I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Psalm 116:12, 16-17
What shall I render to the Lord? My whole being.
