Everything I Need

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. _{Psalm 18:2}

David wrote this song of praise and thanksgiving after he had been saved from the hand of Saul. The song begins with the words, “I love you, O Lord, my strength” and then continues in praise for the love that God steadfastly showed to him at all times. The Lord was everything that David needed in every moment of his circumstances. Verse 2 sums up all those needs and names the One who provided for them.

This is our God. He is the one we can run to for shelter, when life gets too much; He is our safe haven. He is our fortress, protecting us on every side and bringing us relief from our distress. He is the strength on which we stand firm, and within his protection we find our resilience. No one else can do that for us and our faith in Him grows stronger as we recognise His faithfulness to us.

“For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?” Psalm 18:31

You can come through anything with God by your side. Meditate on today’s verse and let it remind you that He is everything you need, not only for today, but for everything that this week will bring.
