Psalm 80:3 – Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved!
Are you the child of God that you want to be or do you long to be better? Do you have that feeling of being ‘on-fire’ for God, or do you look back and wonder when that flame became an ember?
We acknowledge that we need to be saved from our sinful ways, but sometimes I feel like crying out, “Lord, let your face shine upon me and save me from complacency, save me from lethargy, save me from the things on which I waste my time”.
We all need restoration. Maybe like David you long, once again, for the joy of your salvation, maybe it’s the passion of new faith and the fire to see others find Christ. Or maybe you want to see restoration within your own church or fellowship. Daniel prayed asking, “O Lord, make your face to shine upon your sanctuary, which is desolate”. I always feel sad to see an abandoned church, it’s a stark reminder that, as a nation, we are falling further away from God and his ways.
We all need restoration: Personally – Congregationally – Nationally. Pray that God would restore us; pray that His face would shine upon us; pray that He would save us from ourselves.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26
