Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. Proverbs 3:3
The only way for us to learn and understand the depth of steadfast love and faithfulness, is by following the ways of God and the example of the Lord Jesus.
We love because He first loved us and we remain faithful because His faithfulness to us is steadfast. In Deuteronomy 32 the Lord is called The Rock and we are reminded that,
“His work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.”
God created us for His glory and He wants us to choose Him above all else; He wants us to be faithful. Eve chose not to, Adam followed and like dominoes we all fell… but still, God remained faithful. He chose to redeem His people back, time and time again. The children of Israel strayed from His path, doing their own thing and forgetting His faithfulness. Yet, He continually reached out His hand and save them.
God’s faithfulness is as steadfast as His love. He is the only constant in this world, continually stretching out His hand to generation after generation. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Our faithfulness can change with the wind, while He remains unchanging.
Let us choose to be faithful to God – inscribing it upon our hearts – and binding ourselves to Him in love.
