Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. Proverbs 3:3
The only way for us to learn and understand the depth of steadfast love and faithfulness, is by following the ways of God and the example of the Lord Jesus.
We love because he first loved us and we remain faithful because His faithfulness to us is steadfast. In Deuteronomy 32 the Lord is called The Rock and we are reminded that,
“His work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.”
He created us for His glory but He wanted us to choose Him for ourselves; He wanted us to be faithful. Eve chose not to, Adam followed and like dominoes we all fell… but God still remained faithful. He chose to redeem His people back. How many times did the children of Israel stray from His path, do their own thing and forget His faithfulness? How many prophets cried unto the Lord to give the people another chance, and how many times did the children of Israel see the Lord reach out His hand and save them?
Back then the people were described as a crooked and twisted generation. I wish we could say times had changed. The only constant is God. He has remained steadfast and faithful through every generation, and the depth of his love never changes.
Honour God with steadfast love and faithfulness. Write your promise to Him upon your heart, and choose every day to return these deserving gifts to the Lord.
