The Care Package

He found him in a desert land, and in the howling waste of the wilderness; he encircled him, he cared for him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. Deuteronomy 32:10

When soldiers are serving oversea, isolated from their loved ones, the arrival of a care package can mean a lot. Inside may be simple items, like homemade cookies, letters, a family photo, or a favourite snack, but to that soldier, it represents love and thoughtfulness. It’s a reminder that they are not forgotten, not alone, and that someone still cares deeply for them.

When Jesus returned to the Father, He left us a very special care package – the presence of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is not just a gift in itself, but one that supplies us with what we need day by day. Just as the soldier eagerly opens that box from home, we can open the Scriptures daily, and through the Spirit we can find strength, peace, and reassurance that we are never forgotten and never alone. The Bible carries messages of hope straight from God’s heart. Messages of promise that say, “I see you. I’m with you. I care for you.”

Yet sometimes, just like weary soldiers, we grow discouraged. Life’s battles leave us exhausted, and it can feel as if no comfort is on the way. But then, just at the right moment, God sends us a care package of His grace, and we wonder why we ever doubted. It might be an encouraging word from a friend, a verse that speaks directly to our heart, or a quiet moment where we sense His peace. These are not coincidences; they are divine reminders of the Father’s faithful love.

It’s humbling to realise that God’s care never runs out. His love, mercy, and grace are freely given, not because we’ve earned them, but because of who He is. When we cast our cares on Him, we are placing our worries into the hands that already carry us.
