Rich Blessings

The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. Proverbs 10:22

Have you ever sat and thought about the blessing of the Lord on your life – really pondered it? From the very beginning of time, God was preparing the blessing of redemption. He knew the sorrow that was coming and He chose to prepare forgiveness and sanctification through the blessing of redeeming love.

The blessings of God are only ever good and are given for our benefit. He blesses us with comfort and protection and refuge. He provides a hiding place for dark days and beautiful open places to be refreshed and restored, as He pours out His blessing of goodness and mercy.

For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. John 1:16

Grace upon grace – how do we even begin to understand the depth of meaning within these words. Almighty God, the Creator of the universe, gave His Son – and for those who believe in Him, He blessed with the right to become His children. The blessing of God’s favour upon us is incredible and should always be remembered with thankfulness and praise.

God’s blessings never stop. Every day He blesses us with strength, courage, boldness and the ability to take the gospel of His grace into the lives of everyone we meet, whether by words or by actions. On the other side of that, He blesses us with people who pray for us and encourage us along the way.

We will never be able to fully comprehend the richness of the blessings of the Lord, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that our lives are immensely better, and richer, because of them.
