Encouragement, Glory of God, Truth

Unfading Glory

This is a verse that ignites the soul. It reminds us of the incredible privilege that we now have in being able to behold the glory of the Lord. The glory that was once shrouded in cloud, the pure essence of God that was veiled from human eyes, because as Exodus 24:17 tells us, the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire.’ The veil has now been lifted and we not only see the Lord glorified, but we are being changed into that very same glory.

The Lord Jesus laid aside his glory and became flesh, ‘being born in the likeness of men’ (Philippians 2:7), in order that we might be changed into the image of the Son. It is a process that starts at the moment of salvation, and continues daily, from one degree to another by the power of the Spirit within us.

When Moses came down from the mountain after his encounter with God, his face shone with the glory of the Lord. He was reflecting God’s glory. You could say that it was borrowed glory, for it didn’t come from within Moses himself, and it eventually faded. What excites me about today’s verse is that the glory we are being transformed into is not temporary and it won’t fade. The Greek word for transformed/changed is literally translated as metamorphose, which depicts a permanent outward change.

This amazing change is taking place within you right now; bit by bit, day by day. As you put off the old and put on the new, seek more of Jesus and less of yourself, you are being transformed.
