Sharing is Caring

This verse points to the fact that our faith should have an effect on those around us. Simon Peter came through a lot and because of that he was able to strengthen his brothers and share the knowledge of the Saviour with those that did not know Christ. Like him, we too can make a difference in the lives of others as we share what we have received, and tell what God has done for us.

We might not be a great orator like Peter, but we all have the ability to encourage other Christians in their walk by sharing a verse with them, praying with them, or simply being an ear to listen. Running alongside this, we should also take every opportunity to share with those who haven’t met Jesus yet. At times this can be easy and at other times more difficult.

Maybe you feel that you would love to be able to talk to others about Jesus but you feel nervous or anxious, or even embarrassed. Don’t let that discourage you. In 2 Corinthians 4:6 we read:

The light of Jesus is within you, so even when you can’t find the words to say, you can still find ways to show the love of God to others. You are the light of the world; let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven (Matthew 5:16). What you do is just as important as what you say.

We are to show every good thing that is in us; kindness, gentleness, patience, goodness, and love, and we show it all for the sake of Christ. Isaiah reminds us, “If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. And the Lord will guide you continually” (58:10).
