A Pleasing Sound

Praise and worship flow easily when everything is going well, but the tide of thanksgiving can ebb when circumstances are difficult. It is not that our love for God has lessened, it is just hard for the human soul to sing with a broken heart or when joy is lost. We still cling to Him because we know that in the midst of our pain, He will not forsake us, but the song is silent.

Thankfulness is still possible in the hardest of times because of the assurance that God stands beside us in all circumstances with complete knowledge of all that we bear. But it is so much more than just knowing our pain; He has taken our pain upon himself. He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. Isaiah 53:4

There are days when our thankfulness is expressed loud and clear from a heart that is joyful, and other days when it is a soft whisper from a heart that is confused. God, our Father, hears them both, and it is a pleasing sound that reaches his ear.
