May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13
Do you trust and believe in God 100%? Do you believe he has power to change lives, to change circumstances, to change outcomes? Do you trust that He is working on your behalf and for your good?
Through faith, through trust, through believing – we have hope – but that’s not all we have. The hope we find in God has the ability to fill us with a deep inner peace. In our world, peace is a rare commodity and personal peace is greatly sought after. People long for peace-of-mind and finding that inner tranquil calm. They sign up for classes, go to retreats and buy the latest products in an attempt to find a balance to the chaos and turmoil of everyday life. If you could bottle and sell peace, you wouldn’t be able to keep up with demand.
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD God is an everlasting rock. Isaiah 26:3–4
Do we, as Christians, realise what it is that we’ve actually got? We don’t need to go out and buy peace; we have access to an unending supply of it – free of charge! By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are abounding in, richly supplied with, knee deep in hope, and with hope there also comes peace and joy.
Through the goodness and kindness of Almighty God, we have been gifted with the most beautiful and precious of commodities. People everywhere have an inner longing to experience real peace and real joy, alongside a hope that doesn’t disappoint, and we have the privilege of being able to lead them to the supplier.
May we take every opportunity that comes our way to share the eternal hope, lasting joy and perfect peace of God with those who so desperately need it.
