Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1
Salvation is God’s gift to us, a gift we don’t deserve, a gift that cost Him everything. Salvation, however, is a gift that truly keeps on giving. Every day it can give us hope and it can bring us joy. It pours down on us the love and mercy and grace of God. It gives us purpose, direction and strength. It gives us comfort and the most unimaginable peace which goes far beyond our understanding.
This is an indescribable peace that has the ability to calm the most trouble soul; this is God’s peace. The Lord said:
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27
We have a peace that can cut through anxiety and fear, and can penetrate our worry, our stress and even our grief. Most profoundly, peace with God takes the very sting out of death. As soon as the gift of God’s salvation is accepted there is no longer any need to be afraid of death. When peace steps in, fear steps out, for there just isn’t room for both.
I’m sure you would agree that experiencing the peace of God can be the most incredible feeling. So, let me encourage you today to pray for an outpouring of this most precious of gift.
