And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13
You may wonder at times if the God of the whole universe really sees you because the thought of it is so incredible. Well, this verse in Hebrews confirms that no creature is hidden from His sight, so that’s reassuring, isn’t it? Maybe you’re saying to yourself, ‘Well, it would be reassuring if it didn’t go on to say that we are naked and exposed and must give account.’
This isn’t a new update from God – an ‘Unhidden 2.0’ version – this is how it has been since Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In an instant, nakedness became real and hiding became its companion.
The LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” Genesis 3:9–10
The Lord knew exactly where Adam and Eve were, but He wanted to give them the opportunity to own their situation by being honest and truthful about it. When they did that, God didn’t leave them in their state of nakedness; He made garments for them, and clothed them.
The Lord knows every single thing about us, so there is absolutely no point in trying to hide the warts and scars. We bring them out into the open, baring our soul before Him; being accountable for all we have done. When we do that, He covers us completely with His grace.
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness. Isaiah 61:10
The Lord’s love and concern for us is truly genuine. So, when we come into His presence in naked truth, we leave in royal robes.
As a child of God, consider this truth: You are seen, you are known, you are loved, and you are covered in the grace of God and the righteousness of Christ.
