Encouragement, Holy Spirit, Promises

Sealed With A Guarantee

This verse states a fundamental truth that is always worth reminding ourselves of: If the salvation of God is a reality in our lives, then we have been sealed with the Holy Spirit. The Father has placed upon us, His own personal seal, and that seal provides a guarantee.

Sin is the great separator, but we were not made to be alone and isolated from God. Jesus came to restore that union by providing a salvation that redeems us back to the Father. Choosing His salvation means never being alone again, for the Spirit was promised to all who believe. The Holy Spirit guides us in truth, helps us grow in spiritual gifts, encourages us in being productive for God’s kingdom, and is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it (Ephesians 1:14).

Having God’s seal on our lives means that our inheritance is guaranteed – an inheritance of eternal glory – and what is sealed by God cannot be changed. His seal is binding.

God’s promises are steadfast, and through His mercy He has delivered us from this dark world, into the kingdom of His Son, Christ Jesus our Lord. We are heirs with Christ, and as sons and daughters of God there is a guaranteed inheritance, which the apostle Peter tells us is, imperishable, undefiled, unfading, and kept in heaven for you (1:4). This is our living hope.
