Encouragement, Holy Spirit, Truth

The Intervention

In times of grief, sadness, anxiety and confusion we often find ourselves at a loss when it comes to prayer. Sometimes we are so distraught that the only thing we can manage through the tears is, “Lord, help me, please”. Likewise, during those times of confusion, when we are completely unsure of the road ahead and feel like we are just going in circles, we can find that we no longer know what it is that we should be praying for.

When we feel bruised and battered, directionless or confused, the great Comforter and Guide spans the gap as mediator between us and God. He sees our distress and understands the depth of our pain and the breadth of our searching. Stepping into our place, He takes hold of it, carries it to the Father on our behalf and intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

What an incredible thing it is, that the Holy Spirit communes with God in order to help us during times of weakness. The enemy loves to see our weaknesses exposed because it gives him an opportunity to break through our lowered defences. Praise God that the Spirit stands like a shield between us and the enemy, keeping us in the will of God.
