We ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. 1 Thessalonians 4:1
When it comes to pleasing God in our Christian walk, we all have good days and not so good days. Keeping our focus clear, our hearts open, and our tongue under control, can often be easier said than done. We need spiritual wisdom and understanding every day if we are to achieve walking in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:10).
Thankfully, we don’t have to try and accomplish all this in our own strength because, firstly, we have been given the Holy Spirit as our helper and guide. Secondly, we have the Lord Jesus, who has gone before and experienced this daily life and all that it entails. Thirdly, we have God, our Father – the source of our strength and spiritual power.
May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy. Colossians 1:11
Living a life that is pleasing to God is vital to our spiritual growth as well as the development of our relationship with Him, which is why we are urged to do so more and more. This is something that takes work and a conscience effort, and it is a choice we must make daily.
Whatever is going on in our home, our family, or our workplace – we choose to please God and we choose to do so more and more.
