Daily Life, Prayer, Truth

Time to Fuel Up

How much of our day-to-day activity do we actually hand over to God? Are there ‘trivial’ matters that we don’t even consider mentioning to Him? Have a think about your typical day and break it down to things you talk to God about and things you just get on with. Which list is longer? Is family on the list; is work, or your home study group? What about grocery shopping, going to the hairdresser, the gym, the park? I have no doubt that these will have a range of answers, from – ‘Yes, of course!’ – to – ‘Don’t be daft.’

We know that God’s word clearly tells us that ‘in everything’ we are bring our requests to Him, but we are often guilty of not putting that into practice. We decide in our own minds what is relevant and what is frivolous, when the truth is that there is no part of our lives that God classifies as frivolous or irrelevant. That means that everything is in and nothing is left out.

Our whole life needs to be fuelled by prayer, because the moment we open our front door, we enter God’s mission field. We never know who the Lord will lead across our path today. It might be someone at work, in the supermarket, at the bus-stop, or absolutely anywhere, so we need to ensure that even something as simple as conversation, has been covered in prayer. God cares about all our circumstances, so we should care enough about them to lift them up to Him in prayer.
