Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me. Psalm 42:7
Do you long to be drenched in the Spirit of God? Hopefully the answer to that question is ‘Yes! Absolutely!’ So, as you wait for this to happen, where are standing? Maybe you are at the edge of the sea with your feet in the water, feeling the cool calming sensation ebb and flow. Go deeper. Maybe you have ventured waist deep, swirling the water back and forth with your hands, enjoying the refreshing feeling against your skin. Go deeper. Maybe you have gone as far as it feels safe, still able to stand while feeling the strength of the waves crashing over you. Would you… could you… will you go deeper? If we don’t risk going deeper, we risk becoming complacent about the wonder of our salvation and the eternal hope we have been given.
For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. No one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 1 Corinthians 2:10-12
God wants us to experience more than surface level faith and knee-deep knowledge of who He is. He wants us to dive deeper and see the amazing wonders within the depths. God wants us to discover a deeper and richer spiritual relationship with Him through a better understanding of who He is. When we know Him better in spirit, we can worship Him better in truth.
Ditch the snorkel and respond to the call of the deep.
