Choices, Encouragement, God's Power

Turn and Live

It is a common occurrence to see a sign on a shop or restaurant which reads ‘Under New Management’. When we see the sign, we often wonder what changes will take place and will we like them? Apparently, no-one likes change and yet we live in an ever-changing world. Farmers are frequently adapting to the demand (or lack of) for their product. Advances in medical research moves to change the outcome of a prognosis. Technology appears to change on a daily basis with people clamouring for the next new thing. Everything around us and about us changes continually and that constant movement is like shifting sand beneath our feet which takes away the stability that we inherently crave.

In a world that’s ever-changing, God remains the same. When the mood and affections of those around us change, God remains steadfast. So many people overlook this wonderful truth as they slog away to change everything around them in order to find contentment. Leo Tolstoy summed it up well when he said, ‘Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.’

Lasting change comes from within and is only possible through the power of the One who changes not. Through God alone we are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another (2 Cor 3:18). This is the kind of change we should all embrace.
