Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me!” Psalm 66:20
We may wonder on occasion whether God has seen our distress and heard our prayer. If you can relate to this, then you are in good company because even king David had the same thoughts sometimes. The Psalms are filled with his calls to the Lord, begging him to listen and answer. For periods of time, he would feel afraid and alone, waiting anxiously for a response and longing to feel God’s grace strengthening his soul. He didn’t doubt that his life and circumstances were in God’s hands, but that didn’t stop him from feeling that some of his prayers were just carried away by the wind.
Grace was never far away and God’s faithfulness always found David. He acknowledged this truth and his own doubts, saying, “I had said in my alarm, ‘I am cut off from your sight.’ But you heard the voice of my pleas for mercy when I cried to you for help” (Psalm 31:22).
Never doubt this truth for your own life – the Lord sees you and He hears you. Because of that, His grace and faithfulness will always find you. God loves you deeply, so trust that He is listening and that He will provide for you in every situation.
Praise God that we can say: “Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul… truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer.” Psalm 66:16,19.
