Glory of God, Worship

Beautiful Presence

O Lord, I love the habitation of your house and the place where your glory dwells. Psalm 26:8

We can worship the Lord at any time and in any place, but there is something really special about coming into the communal sanctuary for the sole purpose of spending time with God. It is an opportunity to shut everything else out and give our undivided attention to the one who attends to us continually.

The glory of God may no longer ‘dwell in houses made by hands’ but when we gather in His name, He is in our midst. The Father bestowed his glory upon the Son, and the Lord has imparted that glory into the life of every believer.

“The glory that you have given me, I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one.” John 17:22

We have a responsibility for that glory to be evident and the Lord Jesus directs us in this, saying, “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit.” The seed of that fruit grows when we dwell in the presence of the Lord and allow our spirit to be filled with the beauty of His glory and the bounty of his love.

The most productive use of time is time spent with God.
