He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14
Two verses, four truths. If you accepted Jesus as your Saviour, you have been forgiven, redeemed, delivered and transferred. There is no longer any fear of hell because of ‘Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come’ (1Thes1:10). He has the power to deliver us because he holds the keys of Death and Hades (Rev1:18) and the domain of darkness no longer has control over us.
We have been transferred – moved, relocated, reassigned – to a new dwelling that the Lord himself has gone to prepare for us. It is promised that ‘there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ’ (2Pet1:11).
The wonder of all of this is that none of it is based on anything that we have done. It is only possible through the death of Jesus on the cross, for through his blood alone have we been forgiven and redeemed, according to the riches of God’s grace.
What an amazing truth, that He has delivered us. He is not considering it, mulling it over, thinking possibly maybe some time in the future… No – He has – it is done, finished, completed. Our lives are forever secure in Him and in his glorious kingdom.
