Divine Peace

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

The Lord spoke to His disciples at length on their last evening together before He was taken to be crucified. He had so much that He wanted to explain to them; so much that they needed to hear, and yet there were still some things that he felt they could not yet bear.

Jesus knew that he had already laid a lot on their shoulders, so he draws their attention back to this important truth: ‘In me, you will find peace.’ The Lord knew what each of his disciples would face in the years ahead, including hatred, persecution and death. He knew the road ahead would be filled with difficulty and challenging situations, but this is not where he wanted their focus to be.

The Lord’s concern for you is no different. He sees every part of your journey and he knows exactly where the challenges lie – the sorrow and pain, the broken relationships, the rejection, isolation, illness and loss. The reality remains, that in the world you will have tribulation, but alongside it, this powerful truth remains:

I have overcome the world.

Yes Lord, and Amen! The Lord has borne every burden that you carry and he has overcome them all. Allow that truth to bring strength and comfort to your circumstances today.

When you live your life in Jesus, you can experience a divine peace through all that you face day by day.
