Can You See Him?

But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. Matthew 13:16

The crowds had packed themselves onto the shoreline while Jesus spoke to them from a boat and told them the parable of the Sower and the Seed. Afterward, the disciples inquired as to why he spoke in parables and he answered with the sad truth from the prophet Isaiah –

This people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them. Matthew 13:15 (from Isaiah 6)

The crowds looked at this wonderful Rabbi, listened to his profound teaching and yet some still failed to see who he truly was and failed to hear the truth of the Word. God was revealing himself through the Son and yet most remained blind to the Messiah that they had waited so long to see. Even the Jewish leaders, in all their wisdom, failed to see him – “for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” 1Cor2:8. The disciples were blessed because Jesus had revealed the truth to them and their eyes were open to see and their ears open to hear.

God continues to reveal the hidden secrets of the Kingdom and the mystery of the gospel to each one who truly seeks it. His Word is rich in wisdom and spiritual truths and He has promised that ‘You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart’ Jer29:13.

May you be blessed today as you see, hear and understand all that the Lord has revealed to you, and may you find healing for your soul through the truth of his word.
