Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6
Do you remember how it felt on the day you decided to lay everything down at the feet of Jesus and accept the Lord into your life? Did it feel like a weight had been lifted off your shoulders? A new beginning, a new way of thinking, a new purpose and direction.
Walk in faith… Paul says “as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him.” Receiving the amazing gift of God’s salvation is only the first step of the journey of faith. The step-of-faith must now become the walk-of-faith.
Rooted in faith… We need to grow as we walk and good growth comes from strong roots. Have you ever tried to remove a plant or shrub with deep roots? It is extremely difficult to do. Your roots grow in the word of God, so don’t neglect, for it is the source of strength for your relationship with Christ. The stronger the roots, the more difficult it will be for the devil to unsettle you.
Built up and established in the faith… In order to build up your faith, you need to not only read the Word, but learn the Word. Memorising scripture, which is the sword of the Spirit, will be an essential weapon in all kinds of situations in your daily life. Allowing it to become a part of you will keep your feet on a firm foundation.
As you walk in Christ and grow deep, strong roots in God’s word, continue to give thanks through all things, at all times.
