Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted. Isaiah 12:4
There is a time for everything, including a time to be still and a time to go and do. This verse is all about doing – give thanks, call upon, make known, proclaim. So, are you ready to take some action?
Give thanks to the Lord… Consider the week that has past and give thanks for God’s goodness, his safe keeping, his comforting presence, his Spirit of peace. Then thank him for his enduring strength which will carry you through the week ahead.
Call upon his name… Call out to the Lord, in faith, telling him all that you need to accomplish this week. Ask for his guidance, his direction, and his wisdom for every decision you will make.
Make known his deeds… Share your story and let others know of the goodness of God. It could be a conversation with the person beside you on the bus, at the dentist, in work or at the school gates. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Keep it simple, keep it short, and give God the thanks at the end of it.
In giving thanks, we proclaim our gratitude to God. When we call upon Him, we proclaim our dependence on his grace and mercy in our lives. As we make known his faithful goodness, we proclaim his kind, loving and generous nature. In all of this his name is exalted.
May you experience the blessing of God as you converse with him about your life, and as you converse with others about your God.
