Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together! Psalm 34:3
Coming together in one mind for the soul purpose of lifting our hearts, hands and voices in thankfulness to God can bring us as much joy as it brings to him. When we rejoice in Him, our souls rejoice within – this is the symbiotic relationship we have, spirit to Spirit. When we unite our spirits in fellowship, being unified in the praise and worship of our Lord, it is a truly wonderful thing. Charles Spurgeon said:
“Praise is the occupation of the godly, their eternal work, and their present pleasure.”
We get immense pleasure in worshipping God. When we lift our thoughts heavenward and allow ourselves to simply enjoy His presence, we can experience that beautiful union with God. A union we were created for. With that thought in mind, it makes you wonder why we don’t exalt his name together even more!
Why not challenge yourself this week to phone someone and say, ‘magnify the Lord with me’. Put on a CD with a favourite worship song and praise the Lord together.
