The Hidden Treasure

For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6

Having these resources are vital for our journey, as we navigate our way across the terrain that is daily life. Solomon understood the immense benefits and the value of seeking the wisdom of God. In Proverbs chapter 2, he instructs us to be attentive to wisdom, turn our hearts to understanding and to call out for insight (v2,3). We are to seek it out diligently and search for it like a precious hidden treasure (v4).

The Lord has an abundance of wisdom to give to those who follow His laws. He will guard and watch over those who walk in His ways. The true path will be clear for wisdom will come into your heart (v10) … understanding will guard you, delivering you from the way of evil (v11,12).

Wisdom also protects us from getting led astray by those who have abandoned the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness (v13). Wisdom opens our eyes to those whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways (v15).

Solomon encourages us to pursue wisdom, knowledge and understanding, for in doing so we will walk in the way of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous (v20).

Wisdom and understanding may be a hidden treasure of the Christian, but it is not hidden from the Christian who seeks it out.
