Move Closer

Going Deeper in God’s Truth

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing” Zephaniah 3:17

Throughout the centuries there has been one glaring consistency, and that is the world’s rebellion against God and his ways. In every nation there are those who ‘listen to no voice; accept no correction; do not trust in the Lord, and do not draw near to God.” Zeph 3:1

People are, and always have been, rebellious, adamant in their own way and unwilling to accept correction. We do, of course, come into this world with a disadvantage. Instead of being born pure, as God intended, we arrive tainted by sin. Every day we are surrounded by temptation, and every day we make choices toward good or evil. We also see others make these choices – individuals, communities, governments, leaders – and at times it can be devastating.

Every one of us needs the hope of justice, the hope of forgiveness, and the hope of something better than ourselves.  God created the ‘something better’ and he created it for everyone on earth to experience. The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save. He offers a life of hope, a life of promise, and a life in which we can experience peace within the turmoil. To have this life we need to listen to His voice and be willing to turn away from only pleasing ourselves. We need to move closer to Him, trust his guidance, accept His correction and follow his will.

Allow the Lord to save you from yourself by giving your whole self to Him. When you do, he will rejoice over you with gladness. When the world is noisy and chaotic, he will quiet you by his love. When you doubt that you are worthy, he will exult over you with loud singing, lifting your spirit to new heights.

Move closer to God and let him quieten your mind and your spirit. Listen, and receive the song of His heart.
