The Virtuous Daughter of God (1of3)

An Incredible Woman

She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong. Proverbs 31:17

Proverbs 31, verses 10 to 31, gives us the blueprint to an incredible woman. I am sure that every woman who has read these verses thinks that this résumé is beautiful to read, but an unobtainable reality. Who could possibly live up to this standard?

God has given every one of his daughters the potential and ability to be a virtuous woman – a ‘chayil’ woman. Chayil means ‘a force’, both of means and of resources; the word denotes strength, influence and capability. The woman of God dresses herself every morning in strength, boldness, power and might. She makes her arms strong, to carry whatever the day will bring. This is a mental strength – a covering of courage for all that lies ahead.

The chayil woman is creative, imaginative and industrious. She doesn’t shy away from hard work and she commits herself to every task.

She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands… she makes… she sells… she opens her hand to the poor, and reaches out to the needy. (v13,20,24)

Are your hands willing – are they making, creating, giving, helping, reaching out to others? Do you care for all those under your roof; wanting the best for them? Do you get up each morning in the strength of the Lord and tackle whatever comes your way? Something tells me that you answered ‘yes’ to each of these, so don’t sell yourself short. You are a strong woman. You are a capable woman.

Never doubt the potential, the ability and the resources that God has placed within you by the power of the Spirit. In his eyes, you are an incredible woman, for you are his daughter.
