Because you are sons (and daughters), God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba! Father! Galatians 4:6
When Jesus was explaining salvation to Nicodemus, he described being ‘born again’ because of the need to be ‘born of the Spirit’. Nicodemus thought he was living, but he hadn’t yet experienced spiritual life. Millions of people around the world who believe they are living their best life are sadly just dead souls walking; their spirit is dead. Only when you give your life to Jesus do you become truly alive. God’s gift to us was Jesus, and Jesus’ gift to us was the Spirit of life.
“He saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, [which was] poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs.” Titus 3:5-7
Jesus restores our spirit to its original intended state, giving us the wonderful gift of living life in all its fullness. We have been released from the hold of sin, but in order to maintain that freedom, we must present ourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life Romans 6:13. We are no longer slaves, but sons and daughters of God, with the privilege and right to call him Abba, Father.
Are you walking in the Spirit and living in the freedom that Christ bought for you? Have you set your mind on the Spirit to live fully in his peace? God sent the Spirit of his Son into your heart. You are one with Christ; you are a child of God.
Living in the Spirit, through the Son, as a child of the Father and an heir of the kingdom – this is what living your best life actually feels like!
