God's Will, Proverbs, Wisdom

A Grand Design

By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Proverbs 24:3,4

Not everyone has been blessed with wisdom, understanding and knowledge, but it is available to all of us. James tells us, ‘If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given’ (1:5). Solomon goes a bit further and says, if you are going to get wisdom, don’t stop there, get knowledge along with it, (see Prov4). Although these three things might sound the same, they are each different. For example, you might know a passage of scripture and recite it by heart but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you understand it, or that you possess the wisdom to explain it.

The Christian needs all three in their life in order to build a solid faith. It is just like the person who embarks on building a home; they require an architect, a builder and a decorator. Each has their own skill and each can achieve something good, but put them together and an amazing design becomes possible.

God has a grand design for your life and he had the plans drawn up before you were even born. Ask Him for a sound understanding of his word so that your faith is built on a firm foundation. Ask for a deep knowledge of the Father, the Son and the Spirit so that every area of your life is filled with the beauty and the richness of his grace. Then ask for wisdom in every situation so that His plan and purpose would be achieved.

We could all benefit from more wisdom, knowledge and understanding, and we know that God gives generously, so what are you waiting for? Just ask.
