Faith worked out, Listening to God, Trust

On The Move

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.” Genesis 12:1

Abram was 75 years old when he got called by God to a new destination; a journey from Haran to Canaan. In verse 4 we are told that ‘Abram went, as the Lord had told him.’ Such was his faith and his trust in God, that he was willing to uproot his family once again and embark on another arduous journey.

Listening for the call of God is one thing, but responding to it is another. As new Christians we are full of fire and longing to see what God has for us – ‘Here I am, Lord, send me.’ As time goes on, we get more settled and find a comfortable rhythm of Christian life – ‘Here I am, Lord, send me… but not too far.’

There is no fulfilment in wishy-washy commitment; we are either all in or we’re not. God may take you on a literal journey or a spiritual journey and both may require some upheaval. Do we trust Him enough to lead us out of our own Haran to that better place that he has for us?

Don’t let your faith stagnate, it is an ever-evolving, living entity which grows stronger as we tend to it. Allow God to challenge you, excite you and move you into new experiences of Him and his amazing provision.
