Secure Footing

Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.

Proverbs 10:9

This verse reminded me of two sayings: 1. Be sure your sin will find you out, and 2. Honesty is the best policy. Deceit can only be hidden for so long before it eventually surfaces.

If you have a telephone then you have probably been subjected to deceit of various kinds. Callers pretending to be your internet provider, a claims handler or someone from your bank. As one scam gets detected a new one takes it place. It seems there is no end to the lengths some will go to in order to take advantage of others.

Sometimes we see justice take place but mostly these crooks slink back into the darkness to create even more elaborate tricks. Not all will answer in the courts of man but they will all answer in the judgement of God, for he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.

Christians, of course, are not immune from being deceitful and it is something we need to be conscious of. Nothing is hidden from God so why be anything less than honest with him. Ask Him to shine a light on anything that needs dealt with so that you can walk according to his will and not your own.

When we walk in honesty, we have nothing to fear and our footing is secure because we walk in His light.
