Wisdom Granted

Daniel 2:17,18 – Then Daniel went to his house and made the matter known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions and told them to seek mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his companions might not be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

Nebuchadnezzar was having dreams and his spirit was troubled, and his sleep left him. He needed answers so he called magician, enchanters, sorcerers and Chaldeans to tell him his dream. The thing was, in order to trust the interpretation, he wanted to be told the dream also. The Chaldeans answered, “There is not a man on earth who can meet the king’s demand… the thing that the king asks is difficult and no one can show it to the king except the gods, who dwelling is not with flesh.” This infuriated the king and he made a decree that all the wise men were to be killed. When the king’s guard came to take Daniel, he asked the guard for an explanation and then requested to see the king so that he could reveal the dream to him.

Daniel went straight to his friends, explained the situation and they all began a time of prayer. God heard them and revealed the mystery of the dream to Daniel, who returned thanks to the Lord.

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.”

When a situation seems dark, talk to God. When things seem out of control, talk to God. When you need clarity, talk to God. There is no circumstance that falls outside of God’s ability to change and he cares deeply about every circumstance of your life. Seek his wisdom, ask him for understanding and give him thanks for lighting the way and giving you his strength.

“To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of you” (2:23).
