Hope, Romans

Word of Hope

Romans 15:4

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

I thought that this was the perfect verse on which to end our journey through Romans. Paul’s teaching came from the Old Testament along with his personal experiences and his encounter with the Lord. Could he even have imagined that the letters he wrote would go on to encourage millions of Christians around the world? Some may be tempted to think that what he wrote was just his own thoughts, but the letter to the Colossians tells us:

I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints.

Regardless of who held the quill, every word contained within this inspired book has the approved seal of the King. This is the greatest book that anyone will ever own. It has power beyond our comprehension; it provides hope in every situation, comfort in every trial and guidance in all circumstances. It can cause us to rejoice through the tears, it can bring calm amidst the chaos and it constantly reminds us to trust in the One in whom all things hold together. Keep your bible close at all times for it brings life and healing to all who seek it.

Prayer: May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
