Romans, Wisdom

Untraceable

Romans 11:33

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgements and how inscrutable his ways!

This is the reason we learn to trust Him; His knowledge is beyond our comprehension. His ways are so far beyond our understanding that even King David proclaimed such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it‘ (Ps139).

Inscrutable can also be translated as unsearchable/untraceable/past finding out (KJV). Psalm 77 says, Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen. That is what it is like to try and discern the thoughts of God – looking for a footprint in the water. There are some things we are just not meant to know this side of heaven. This is something that each of us has to come to terms with.

There are also things we can know through faithful study of His word which He has given for our training in righteousness that we may be competent and equipped for His service (2Tim3). To put your trust in God is to trust Him in all circumstances, without question and without doubt.

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and will not be afraid (Isa12:2).
