Words Won’t Come

Romans 8:26

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

In times of grief, sadness, anxiety and confusion we often find ourselves at a loss when it comes to prayer. Sometimes we are so distraught that the only thing we can manage through the tears is, “Lord, help me, please”.

When you feel battered and bruised, have an inconsolable heartache, or feel completely broken, the great Comforter spans the gap as mediator between yourself and God. He sees our distress and understands the depth of our pain. He grabs hold of it, carries it to the Father on our behalf and intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

We may not feel it or even realise at the time that this incredibly intimate interaction is taking place, but take comfort in knowing that it does.

The Holy Spirit communes with God, for you.
