Romans 8:10
But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
This tells me that regardless of the ‘sin-shell’ that I must wear, I can still live free because the Spirit lives within me and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2Cor3:17).
Freedom from judgement. Freedom from punishment. Freedom from fear. In essence, we are free from the consequences of the Law. The Lord Jesus said that He did not come to abolish the law but to fulfil it. The Law in itself still stands and we must abide by what God commands of us. The difference is, we no longer have to fear the judgement and the punishment that breaking those commands used to incur.
The Law brought condemnation for doing wrong, which you could atone for, but it never brought salvation. The death of our Lord Jesus fulfils the law by ushering in this amazing gift and enabling us to be saved; to be ‘made right’ with God. This righteousness then leads us to experience life in the Spirit because of this profound truth… Christ is in you.
