In God I Trust

Psalm 56:3,4

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?

When I am afraid … Fear is such a strange thing, it can be healthy or unhealthy, rational or irrational. When fear grips you, however, it can be completely debilitating and leave you feeling paralyzed. Satan likes to play on our fears in an effort to weaken us and our relationship with God.

We may be children of the Light but we live in a world of darkness, which, in reality means we spend a lot of time in the twilight. When fear surrounds us, we have trouble working out whether it is dusk or dawn. The situation seems bleak and the days ahead appear dark when turmoil ravages our mind.

I put my trust in you … We may not be able to see how a situation or circumstance will resolve itself and the unknown can cause distress, but God’s word tells us that He has overcome all things. So, by faith, we put our trust in Him. His word is true; He is steadfast and faithful. For this reason, we praise Him regardless of the circumstances.

Grant me the courage to face my fear head on and to know in my heart that nothing can take away my hope in You. In God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
