Trust

Proverbs 3:5-8

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

This is one of my favourite Proverbs and it’s among the first verses that I ever memorised. The word that stood out for me was all. All your heart. All your ways. There are no half measures here; you can’t trust the Lord in part. We have to trust Him wholly, fully, completely, with every ounce of our being, in every area of our life.

Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.

Why would I want to make judgements based on my limited knowledge and understanding? I shouldn’t. I still do though, from time to time. I say that I’m leaving everything in His hands and then proceed to take some things back with me. That is a lack of trust.

They say trust is earned and it can take time for us to trust people, especially when we don’t know them very well. People can also let us down and trust gets broken. God is not people, yet sometimes we treat Him like he is. That is a lack of understanding.

Trusting God takes faith. Understanding God takes wisdom. When we have conquered both…

It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
