Glorious Wonders

Psalm 8

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.

What an opening verse. There is nothing in all the earth that deserves more reverence than the name of the Lord our God –

El Elyon God Most High; Elohim Mighty Creator; El Shaddai God Almighty; El Olam Eternal God; Jehovah-Adon Kal Ha’arets Lord of all the Earth.

Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.

David was just a boy when the Lord used him in the fight against the Philistines. Age is of no consequence to God and that applies to those young in the faith as well. If you are willing then God is able; He will use the weak to shame the strong.

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place.

The heavens are one of the most incredible things to look at and observe – the Milky Way, the galaxies, comets and shooting stars, the aurora borealis. Magnificent and beautiful displays of God’s creative character.

What is man that you are mindful of him?

We look to heavens and feel small. This Almighty Creator of wonderous design cares about me, cares about you, deeply. He knows our weaknesses and our failings. We are the only part of his creation that corrupted itself and yet, we mean so much to Him that he extends His grace and mercy in order to restore us to our former glory…. The glory of God himself.
