Fruit of the Spirit, Peace

Incredible Peace

Romans 5:1

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Salvation is God’s gift to us, a gift we don’t deserve, a gift that cost Him everything. Salvation, however, is only the beginning of this wonderous gift; it is beyond doubt, a gift that truly keeps on giving. Every day it gives us hope and it gives us joy. It pours down on us the love and mercy and grace of God. It gives us purpose, direction and strength. It gives us comfort and the most unimaginable peace which surpasses all understanding.

This is an indescribable peace that has the ability to calm the most trouble soul; it is God’s peace. The Lord said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid”, (John 14). We have a peace that can cut through anxiety and fear. It can penetrate worry and stress and grief.

Most profoundly, peace with God takes the very sting out of death. Paul tells us that the sting of death is sin (1Cor.15:56) but as soon as we accept God’s gift of salvation there is no longer any fear of death – peace takes over.

I’m sure you would agree that experiencing the peace of God can be the most incredible feeling. Pray for an outpouring of this precious gift today.
